MATERIA – the wood that did not burn in Herculaneum

Hebanon is pleased to invite you to the inauguration of the exhibition MATERIA – the wood that did not burn in Herculaneum

A cultural event of international relevance that sees the collaboration between Hebanon – 1830 and the Herculaneum Archaeological Park

For the first time, 120 wooden artefacts from the ancient city of Herculaneum will be on display in the Royal Apartments on the main floor of the Reggia di Portici, just a few metres from the rooms where the Herculanense Museum was set up in 1738.

It will be possible to admire inlaid and carved wooden furnishings and fittings, testimonies to the ancient cabinet-making tradition of the Campania region that our artisan company has been preserving and handing down for five generations.

Also on display are some late 19th century woodworking tools and utensils from the Hebanon Fratelli Basile – 1830 private collection, on public display for the first time.
